It has begun! My second successful (I hope) legacy. Obviously I'm not going to recap every Sim day (I'll probably get bored with doing this after about a week) but today was the first day of Mike's life so I feel I should record it for posterity.
I found the lot I picked last time and moved Mike in, and the first thing he did was drop his phone.
 |
He doesn't even have the Clumsy trait. He's just an idiot. |
It costs $150 to repair and he's only got $1600 to build his entire house (legacy rules) so well done Mike. Broken screen for you from now on.
His new lot has a lot of pretty trees to live under (I don't know if it's against the rules to move into a lot that already has trees on it, but I figure it's okay if I don't sell them) but we really need to get him a house to protect him from the elements. And here is my first big legacy decision! Foundation or no foundation? Obviously houses with foundations look more realistic. But it's much more difficult to build a basement for them, which I usually end up doing. And it's not like Sims NEED a foundation. It's not going to flood or anything.
 |
'It looks like a toilet' said my partner when I showed him |
But in the end I've gone with a foundation, just because I accept the challenge. And I don't normally build houses with foundations, so it's new and different for me. Mike's house is so far very simple. There are four walls, a roof and a door. And one window, appropriately named the 'Survival Window'.
 |
Surviving is pretty much all he'll be doing in here. |
Mike cried when he went inside for the first time, apparently over the door, though I'm unsure whether he was desperately sad or crying tears of joy. Both seem inappropriate reactions. But then what do I know, I've never owned a door.
Shortly after Mike's emotional door episode some neighbours showed up to welcome him to town!

Friends! |
The one dressed like a furry brought a basket of university freebies, which contained a flag and a very unflattering shirt.
 |
No, Mike. The Metallica shirt was better. |
Mike was so grateful for his new crop top that he began flirting with the university mascot, which is fine, but if Mike turns out to be gay my legacy is over before it's begun.
 |
The guy on the left definitely wants to join in. |
Mike was so taken with his new llama shaped friend that he decided to take him to the library.
 |
And proceeded to ignore him for the next few hours while he surfed the net. ONE OF US. |
He joined the Magician career and took the stage name of Murder Train. It's because that Murder Train song from How I Met Your Mother sounds exactly like the theme song of Criss Angel's Mindfreak and whenever I think of it I can't stop laughing. And you know Criss Angel is kind of a magician so...look, shut up. It made sense in my head.
Mike then went out the back of the library to pick some toadstools and wowed everyone with his plumber's crack.
 |
There's no excuse for this, Mike. |
He spent the rest of the afternoon in the library working on his Charisma, because he's going to need it if he continues to wear that shirt. At about 8.30pm he got hungry, which was understandable considering he had eaten since he moved in, and he and Rodrigo went to the coffeehouse for dinner. Outside, a pretty lady approached Mike to brighten his day, which would not have happened if he hadn't changed shirts in the coffeehouse. Perhaps they've got mirrors in there.
 |
That's Rodrigo the llama on the right. He's actually pretty suave without his mascot suit on. Good choice, Mike. |
Another lady approached Mike as well, but this one was covered in hair and rather aggressive.
 |
I knew we should have gone with Monte Vista. |
Mike managed to get her to leave him alone by hitting her repeatedly on the head with what looks like a rolled up newspaper. Where did he get a newspaper from? I don't know. Let's just assume he picked it up in the coffeehouse. After his encounter with the werewoman Mike was pretty tired, so he said goodbye to Rodrigo and headed home to his sleeping bag. Before getting into it he stood there for about five minutes just staring at the wall, presumably thinking about how depressing his house is.
 |
At least he doesn't have to worry about being robbed. |
Thus concludes Mike's first day in Moonlight Falls. I think it was pretty productive. Tomorrow he'll begin brushing up on his magic skills so he can begin performing for tips. He's still got $400 left, but that's not going to last too long, especially when he has to eat out because he doesn't have a fridge.
