Sims 3 Legacy - Testing Towns - Monte Vista

Monte Vista! You are so pretty!

PRETTY!!

I just loaded this one, and the first thing I've noticed is that there are lots of legacy viable lots! Without having to delete things! YAYYYYY!

Only I've come across what I think may be a wee glitch, because I've picked one and I'm trying to move Mike into it and it isn't working. It just won't let me do it. Why won't you let me do it, Sims? Why?

Ah, cool, figured it out. What I have to do is put a chair or something on the lot and then the game will think it's a house and my Sim can move into it.

Cool house bro.

All right, now we've got that sorted, I'll move Mike in. Let's meet him properly this time.

OH MY GOD never hit Share. I just hit Share in CAS just to see what it would do, and now it's been stuck 'sharing' for about fifteen minutes. This game. This fucking game. Hold on, I'll have to force shutdown and start again.
Mike McKenzie

All right, trying again. So here's Mike. I make him exactly the same way every time, right down to the Metallica shirt and the EA hair. I know this guy. His traits have changed slightly since I began making him back in the WA days, just because EA have added more traits that I thought suited him better. Right now his traits are:

  • Charismatic
  • Rebellious
  • Natural Born Performer
  • Flirty
  • Irresistible
So you can tell he's going to be successful with ladies. Useful for a founder. Legacies don't get far without descendants. Later on he may get another trait, either with a degree or social influence, but I haven't decided what that'll be yet. Maybe something like Family Oriented, just so he'll pay attention to his wife and kids and not be off flirting with other people in the library. Personally I think you should change traits with age. Mike's traits are fine for a young adult, but once he gets to eighty it's kind of odd. Flirty and rebellious. And irresistible. I have never met an irresistible pensioner.

Okay! First thing I'll do in Monte Vista is send Mike to town. Hey! No walking tracks!

Just free taxis!

It's a very scenic route into town, but that doesn't change the fact that it takes quite a while to get there. Also, a lot of the town is at the top of a hill and quite tightly packed, so there's no way I can move in there. But God, it's so pretty. SO PRETTY!

I wish I lived here.

It's loosely based on Italy, which is amazing because I was getting pretty sick of the American towns. There's a whole world out there, EA! Get out of California! It's all cosy and kind of has a small town feel, which is both amazing and my first problem with it. See, I need nightlife. Venues and clubs and things. And while I could put them in here, it would just feel...wrong. This place is too lovely to have a big grey Late Night building sticking up out of it like a robot erection. It would mess up the landscape.

Out of interest I googled 'robot erection' and was not disappointed

They put the damn portal in my front yard again. STOP DOING THAT, SIMS.

I really like this town. I really, really do. I'm just not sure it's right for my legacy. You know what I wish? I wish it could be a holiday destination, like China and France and Egypt. I would holiday the SHIT out of this place. I think there might be an Nrass mod that lets me do that? I don't know if it was updated before he left, though. I'll look into it.

Monte Vista

Pros:
  • Beautiful. SO beautiful. I want to frolic through it's fields and pick all the daisies
  • Has a really good feel to it, kind of family/warm/cosy/nice
  • Decent amount of legacy viable and free lots to place your own buildings
  • Combines rabbit holes to make more room for your own lots
  • Cultural theme is very different to most Sims 3 towns

Cons:
  • Lacks the excitement of some of the 'city' towns? That's not really a con though, because that's not what it's made to do. It's really only a con for my legacy.
  • A lot of the town is on top of a hill, which makes it a bit hard to get to.

9/10. Pretty impressed, Monte Vista. Will definitely keep you as a maybe.

Next up: Moonlight Falls
