Sims 3 Legacy - Testing Towns - Moonlight Falls

Three towns in one day!! I have spent all morning blogging. Which is fine, because it's my day off, but I should probably stop after this one. I need to do some exercise and go and buy a spatula. And some Marmite. This morning I had cold baked beans for breakfast.

Not pictured: an appetising breakfast

So this is the last one I'll do this morning. I kind of wanted to do Hidden Springs, but I've already played that one A LOT so I figured I'll do the towns I haven't played much. I'm not going to review ALL the towns, of course. That would take forever and I want to start my legacy before 2015. Besides, Sunset Valley, Riverview and Twinbrook are all so old that I've already used them for numerous failed legacies and they don't feel that exciting to me. So I'll just do the new and fangled ones.

All right, Moonlight Falls. This is the town that came with Supernatural. I LOVE Supernatural. At first I thought I was going to hate it, because I like my games (especially legacies) to be somewhat realistic, and I don't know about where you live but here in Melbourne we don't have werewolves and zombies roaming around terrorising people during a full moon. Just crackheads and hipsters.

Ooh Moonlight Falls. So dark and mysterious. And it has lots of 64x64 lots to choose from! Woo. Also one 64x63, is that against the rules? I don't know. It doesn't matter, because I've already chosen my lot. I'm going to kick out the Small Park and move Mike in. THEY BETTER NOT PUT A GOD DAMN PORTAL THERE THIS TIME.

There are combined rabbit holes (good) but no Showtime venues (not good). There are a lot of places I can put them though, and I don't feel so bad about cluttering the landscape with skyscrapers like I do with Monte Vista. It seems like they'll fit in here. The whole place already looks kind of grey.

There doesn't seem to be a set CBD, everything's just sort of spread out everywhere, which I like. It doesn't take Mike long to get to the Town Hall at all.

Oh, are you fucking serious.

FUCK. OFF.
I hate you, portal. You are the worst.

I'm looking around the town and I think I can make my legacy work here. I'll need to put A LOT of things in (no Late Night or Showtime venues? Seriously) but there's a lot of room and I really like the gloomy vibe of the place. Even though it reminds me just a little of Twilight. And there's a family there called Chester and Bailey Swain, so I don't think it's unintentional. Oh well. At least it's not paying homage to anything worse.

If they EVER make a Sim based on Christian Grey I will DESTROY EVERYTHING IT LOVES AND SET IT ON FIRE
The cemetery in particular looks very creepy, and I would like to bury my Sims there. There's even a special area which I will take as my own.

Those other graves can be moved. This is my world.

Yes. Yes. I like this town. I think I like it as much as I like Monte Vista, although it's not QUITE as pretty. It's definitely ahead of Starlight Shores on the leaderboard. Let's go through the pros and cons.

Moonlight Falls

Pros:
  • LOTS of lots. Big lots! Legacy lots.
  • Dark creepy vibe (I think this is a pro)
  • Laid out well, easy to get to places
  • Combined rabbit holes
Cons:
  • I'll have to put everything in myself
  • The ratio of supernaturals to normal Sims will be a lot higher here, which can be a problem for legacies (can't have legacy Sims with an unnaturally long lifespan)
9/10. It's a toss up between this one and Monte Vista.

Up next: Midnight Hollow

  1. Thanks for this. I've been looking for anything where I can read which of the towns that came with the expansion packs is the best. I'll be checking Monte Vista next since you said it's as good as Moonlight Falls.
